Description
This RUN of PCF boxcars are not what they seem, they are NOT all RBLs. That’s right. Even though Delivery schemes like the EL leased scheme from NACC and the WP are true RBLs. The Triangle Pacific ones have no loaders, one of the SP Repaint schemes had their loaders removed, turning a RBL into a XMI and in the process received the B-70-10-R class for rebuilt cars.
Where there are lettering variations in the repainted schemes, we have included them and it’s not just the small re-weigh date that has changed but also in the case of the SP cars having variations in the SOUTHERN PACIFIC logo. Those Sacramento Shop guys had some fun to keep us on our toes. One of the aspects of SP boxcars is they carried a number of loader graphics and this case with quite a bit of difference from he first run. The DFB loaders are now LD loaders, the cars that had their loaders removed received abbreviated INSULATED logos, pretty we think to have string of these.
On top of these graphic changes the SP introduced a unique Crossbar locking device placed between the plug doors, along with the Third Arm safety arm. These measures were to combat the occasional self-opening tendencies of some plug doors. All of our SP cars will have them, along with lowered handbrakes and cut-down ladders. A pretty unique SP feature when roofwalks were removed. They must have still be thinking long term for these cars.
As you know we do some pretty extensive research and reaching out to knowledgeable modelers, we went the extra mile again when we discovered that there were two SP boxcar colours. The Delivery one produced in the first run as well as a repaint hue, so in this run you will notice a brighter Repaint colour on these cars.
