Description
Test Weight Cars, also known as Scale Test Cars, were developed to accurately calibrate car scales in classification yards. Small in size, but ballasted for a precise weight, the cars would be used to routinely test the scales to ensure that accurate readings were being given. These cars could be found across North America, and many are still used today. In addition to being seen in yards, they can also be found at the end of freight trains when being transferred between facilities.
The Bachmann HO Scale Test Weight Car allows you to replicate this fascinating slice of railroading on your layout. Produced in detailed diecast metal, our cars are actually weighted with the 1:87 scale equivalent to that of the prototype!
